Publicly commissioned performance piece artwork from 1982 when NYC was still recovering from severe de-industrialization and capital flight in the 60s and 70s. The site of the wheat field was an empty lot used as a landfill which was turned to a small piece of urban farmland as a statement about rethinking human priorities in the financial heart of the US.
